One Piece May Be Preparing a Powerful New Devil Fruit User for the Straw Hats

RAVE OTONITY – The Straw Hat Pirates have already established themselves as one of the most formidable crews in the One Piece world, but the Elbaf Arc may still have another major power upgrade in store for them. Recent developments suggest that Eiichiro Oda could be preparing a new Devil Fruit user to join the crew’s ranks, potentially changing its combat dynamics.

The possibility is especially intriguing because not every Straw Hat relies on supernatural abilities. Luffy, Chopper, Robin and Brook already possess Devil Fruit powers, while fighters such as Zoro and Sanji have built their strength through swordsmanship, physical training and Haki. This balance has always been an important part of the crew’s identity.

According to the GameRant analysis, the Elbaf Arc appears to be laying groundwork for another Straw Hat gaining access to a Devil Fruit. If that prediction becomes canon, the development could represent more than a simple power-up and instead become part of a larger direction for the crew as the manga approaches its endgame.

The idea is notable because Devil Fruits are relatively rare within the world of One Piece. They grant extraordinary abilities to those who consume them, but users lose the ability to swim. Their rarity and significant drawbacks mean that obtaining one is not necessarily an obvious choice for every pirate.

Several Straw Hats have already demonstrated that they can compete at the highest level without Devil Fruit abilities. Zoro, for example, has dedicated himself entirely to swordsmanship and Haki. Giving him a Devil Fruit could potentially interfere with the identity he has developed throughout the story.

The possibility of a new user therefore raises an interesting question about which member could receive the power. Oda has previously played with this concept outside the main storyline. In the SBS section of Volume 98, he assigned hypothetical Devil Fruits to several Straw Hats who did not possess one, showing that the idea has existed within the franchise for years.

What makes the current theory more compelling is the timing. The Straw Hats are now an Emperor crew and have entered the final stages of their journey. Any additional ability introduced at this point could have a direct impact on future battles against the world's most dangerous forces.

However, readers should distinguish between confirmed manga developments and speculation. The claim that a new Straw Hat Devil Fruit user is being prepared remains an interpretation of recent story developments rather than an officially confirmed announcement from Oda or Shueisha.

If the theory eventually proves correct, the new ability could complement the crew instead of simply making another member stronger. The best Devil Fruit for a Straw Hat would likely be one that fills an existing weakness or creates new tactical possibilities during the increasingly important battles ahead.

For now, the Elbaf Arc remains the key place to watch. With the story continuing to reveal more about the world's history, legendary figures and the true scale of the final conflict, another Devil Fruit awakening or acquisition could become one of the crew's most unexpected developments.

What Is Manga?

Manga is the Japanese term commonly used for comics and graphic storytelling. It encompasses numerous genres, including action, adventure, fantasy, romance, comedy, horror and science fiction, with stories created for different age groups.

Manga are often released chapter by chapter through magazines or digital platforms before being collected into individual volumes. Successful series can later expand into anime, films, video games and other forms of entertainment.

One Piece, created by Eiichiro Oda, is one of the world's most recognizable manga franchises. Its long-running story follows Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates as they travel across the Grand Line in search of the legendary One Piece treasure. The continuing Elbaf storyline could now introduce another major development for the crew, including the possibility of a new Devil Fruit user.
