Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 Is Set to Premiere—Here Are 3 Things You Need to Know Before Watching

--

RAVE OTN - Written and illustrated by Gege Akutami, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga concluded in September 2024, but the anime is far from over. The anime's third season premieres in January as part of the Winter 2026 lineup, depicting the aftermath of the Shibuya Incident Arc.

Furthermore, the third season kicks off the Culling Game Arc—a deadly battle royale orchestrated by Kenjaku. This is the series' longest arc and introduces several new characters.

The Culling Game is packed with thrilling battles throughout its run, as sorcerers engage in life-or-death fights while simultaneously trying to find a way to free Satoru Gojo from the Prison Realm.

Shortly after the third season concludes in March 2026, a fourth season—set to be more intense than ever—has been confirmed. While awaiting the anime's return, here are three things you need to know.

1) Gojo Won't Be Saved in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4

Rescuing Gojo from the Prison Realm is a monumental task, and the sorcerers do not succeed in freeing him immediately. It takes them several days to discover a method to liberate the modern era's strongest sorcerer.

Moreover, the battles within the Culling Game repeatedly delay the rescue mission. The Jujutsu world falls into chaos following Gojo's disappearance, triggering an endless series of tragedies that the other sorcerers are unable to halt.

Manga readers already know this, but Gojo is freed right after this arc concludes. His reappearance is one of the most exciting moments in the entire story and will likely be featured in the Season 4 finale.

Gojo's return also heralds the start of the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, where he duels the King of Curses—the figure who holds the title of the strongest sorcerer in history.

2) Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 Will Conclude the Manga's Most Intense Arc

Although most details regarding the upcoming season have not yet been revealed, this season will bring the Culling Game Arc to a close. The latest season ended on a cliffhanger following Yuta Okkotsu's battle in the Sendai Colony.

Even though Yuta emerged victorious from the brutal fight against Takako Uro, Ryu Ishigori, and a Special Grade Cursed Spirit, the threat is far from over. The Culling Game is not only the series' longest arc but also a complex one, featuring numerous plot twists that were foreshadowed earlier in the story.

Furthermore, since this is the manga's penultimate arc, fans might even get a glimpse of the Final Arc if the season concludes with another cliffhanger. Fans will also discover the true objectives of Ryomen Sukuna and Kenjaku—plans far more devastating than anyone could imagine. The closing scenes of the Culling Game Arc in the manga are among the most compelling moments in the entire story.

3) Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 Will Arrive Sooner Than Expected

To date, Seasons 2 and 3 took approximately three years to release following their predecessors. Such a long wait is understandable given the high production quality;

MAPPA has poured immense effort into animation quality—delivering stunning visuals and fluid combat choreography—which is a primary reason for Jujutsu Kaisen's phenomenal popularity. However, it is clear that MAPPA is fast-tracking the premiere of Season 4.

While the first two seasons were released in two parts (cours), the third season consisted of only 12 episodes in a single part. Things may play out differently this time, however, as Season 4 is expected to arrive sooner than anticipated.

Just months after the Season 3 finale, the anime released the first teaser for Season 4 in June during MAPPA's 15th-anniversary event. Fans also expect the anime to release a major update later this month during Juju Fest, which will commemorate the anime's 5th anniversary.
