UPDATE! Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter Receives a Major Tune-Up Ahead of 2nd Chapter

RAVE OTONITY – Fans of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky have received an important update ahead of the upcoming sequel. A new Legacy Patch for Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter adjusts terminology, voice pronunciations and several pieces of in-game text so the first game can transition more smoothly into Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter. The sequel is scheduled to launch on September 17, 2026.
The update is available as version 1.07 and affects the English localization as well as selected French and German terminology. The developers are aiming to bring important names and expressions closer to the terminology used throughout later entries in the long-running Trails franchise.
One of the most noticeable changes involves several locations known as the Tetracyclic Towers. Their names have been restored to versions that correspond more closely with the original games because these locations become particularly significant in 2nd Chapter. They are now known as Amberl, Carnelia, Esmelas and Sapphirl Towers instead of the previous localized names.

The terminology revisions are not limited to locations. Several Quartz names have also been modified. For example, Arts Defense is now called Shield, Sweet Aroma has become Scent, and Hidden Leaf has been renamed Cloak. These adjustments are intended to make the terminology more consistent with subsequent games in the series.
English voice work has also received attention. Pronunciations for several important names and locations, including Liberl, Calvard, Zemuria, Loewe and Hamel, have been revised. The updated pronunciations will also be used in Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, creating greater consistency between the two releases.
Not every term from the original localization has been changed. The developers specifically chose to preserve much of the terminology unique to the Trails in the Sky games so that returning players would not feel that the original experience had been completely rewritten. The tower names were treated as an important exception because of their role in the sequel.

Players who prefer the previous English voice work have another option on Steam. Those who want the fixes without the updated voice performances and terminology changes can use patch 1.06.3 instead of version 1.07. This gives PC players greater control over how they experience the first chapter.
The Legacy Patch also addresses technical problems. Several crash-related issues have been corrected, including situations involving insufficient memory and specific in-game operations. Miscellaneous text problems and other bugs have also received fixes, making the update useful beyond its localization adjustments.
This is not the first substantial update for Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter. An earlier patch introduced additional display options, including the ability to hide the interface and switch to a first-person viewpoint. The latest update therefore continues the developers' efforts to refine the modern version of the classic RPG.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter and its Legacy 1.07 update are available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and PC. With 2nd Chapter arriving in September, the changes should help establish a more unified terminology and presentation between the two connected adventures.
