RAVE – The adventures of Little Red Riding Hood, who solves mysterious murder cases in the world of fairy tales, are coming to the screen in animated form. It has been officially announced that the popular mystery novel Akazukin, Tabi no Tochu de Shitai to Deau will be adapted into a TV anime for global release in 2027.
Leading entertainment production company Pony Canyon has officially announced a new TV anime adaptation based on the popular mystery novel Akazukin, Tabi no Tochu de Shitai to Deau. With the release of a promotional video and initial visuals, this animation project featuring a unique concept is scheduled to premiere in 2027.
The original novel serving as the blueprint for this project is the work of talented author Aito Aoyagi and was published by Futabasha. To ensure stunning visual quality, the production committee has appointed the animation studio BENTEN Film as the primary production house.

Additionally, the roles of director and screenwriter have been entrusted to Itsuro Kawasaki, a seasoned professional who previously achieved success with the series The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting. Captivating character designs will be handled by Manami Minakata in collaboration with Yuko Yahiro, who is known for her acclaimed work on the anime Kaguya-sama: Love Is War.
Adapted from the novel by Aito Aoyagi (published by Futabasha), this story turns a traditional fairy tale on its head. The narrative focuses on the adventures of Akazukin (Little Red Riding Hood) as she travels across a fantasy world.
Far from merely delivering pastries, she possesses extraordinary deductive skills and constantly finds herself entangled in complex criminal cases, such as the discovery of mysterious corpses and serial murders. Akazukin must step up as a detective to unravel criminal schemes involving other famous fairy-tale characters, ranging from Cinderella to Hansel and Gretel.

Other famous fairy tale characters ranging from Cinderella to Pinocchio will also appear and become entangled in the mysteries that must be solved. Regarding the main voice cast, talented actress Yume Miyamoto has been confirmed to voice Akazukin, while Akira Sekine will voice Pinocchio.
Before its animated adaptation, the novel achieved immense success in international markets. It was even adapted into a highly successful original live-action film on Netflix in 2023, released globally under the title Once Upon a Crime.
